Join me for a deep dive the Associate Director of Event Operations and the Sustainability Lead for Black Rock City (aka Burning Man), Laura Day. Laura combines conscious event production, environmental stewardship, and operational strategy. She has a variety of successful startups under her belt and a dynamic perspective steeped in realism, yet with plenty of creative ideation sprinkled throughout. Laura graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Science with a focus on Sustainable Communities. After graduating, she attended her first Burn in 2009, inspiring her to found Firefly Gathering, a sustainability-focused music, art, yoga, learning, healing community festival in northern Arizona. She went on to imbue her entrepreneurial ventures with environmentally sustainable and community-focused missions, setting industry standards for best business practices and placing in the top 10 Greenest Workplaces in Oregon three years running as well as in the 100 Best Companies to work for in Oregon. Laura’s approach to inspiring change through inclusive experiences has proven both effective and transformational.
